As of Jan. 1, 2024, businesses may no longer use disposable plastic items for on-site consumption unless there is really no other way. So consider use in the canteen or office. If you consider, for example, that 1 employee consumes an average of 1,000 disposable cups on an annual basis, you know immediately that this is a major burden on our environment and that measures are necessary. In order to have a disposable-proof company by 2024, it is wise to start thinking about the possibilities.
On Rijksoverheid.nl, state Environment Secretary Vivianne Heijnen explains that, in the Netherlands alone, we throw away 19 million plastic cups and food containers every day after single use. The ministry expects that, due to this ban, the use of disposable plastic will decrease by forty percent.
Cardboard as an alternative?
It seems tempting to choose cardboard instead of plastic disposables, however, cardboard may have a thin layer of plastic on it and this too is no longer allowed. So it is important to pay close attention to this when you get started looking for plastic replacements.
So what is a good alternative? Consider mugs for your employees. You can have these printed with your company logo and the name of your employees. The same goes for thermos flasks, which come in handy for employees going on the road. We like to think along with you. Click here for our contact form.
